The Manticore lay in wait above the Caldari Station in Niyabainen, cloaked in silence as she examined the traffic coming to and from the station. Her thoughts adrift of an age gone by. An eternity. Something she was all too accustomed to during times of war. Old habits die hard.
The ancient proverb of unknown origin had replayed itself over and over in Melissa Dawns head for weeks since the first anniversary of her creation some six months prior to now. It was as ancient as her memories could reach, even now, three months after leaving Eve University. She toiled over her decision for weeks before making her move forward to something new. Even when she did finally have the courage to leave, she took a two month leave of her activities to simply study and train.
Every new beginning comes from some other beginnings end.
The past month of active duty within Melissa Dawns new Corporation, the Seppuku Warriors, had given her more pause for thought then she had anticipated. Her thoughts no longer conflicted with the premise of war against Eve University, as they once did. She was grateful of the lessons learned and experiences she had with the benevolent Corporation. Yet she was especially pained with the conflict of realizing that there was an entire galaxy of experiences waiting for her, experiences that could not be trained or learned in her old starter corporation alone.
The Seppuku Warriors had toughened Mel’s experiences and refined her skills for combat. The former University leaders in her new corporation had lived up to her expectations. She had learned more in the first week of fighting side by side with Sabre A, Acacia, Dee, Mordo and others then she had learned in her entire 14 month tenure of the University. A wider universe had been opened upon her. The possibilities were endless. The destruction of Eve Universities POS had changed everything for her. Permanently. She never would have learned this much within the Corporation she was once so attached with. Life outside the restrictive walls was going to be educational, she was free. Free to roam, learn and grow.
